I have heard from my friend Cucan that there are amazing people in this world who through years of genuine efforts and practice can “walk the walls”, and it’s almost like flying. Here’s a video displaying the amazing powers of genuine Wu Dang masters and practitioners who can “walk the walls” and climb up “almost-straight” walls with no special equipment! I believe this can be done by any humans, and of course, it takes years of practice, and perhaps genuine instructions from true masters! When you can “pack” a lot of “chi” from the universe into your own body, you can actually “feel” it as if it’s physical, it will run in your meridians and channels as you wish it to run! And so, this can only be experienced by those who have put in the efforts to learn from geunine masters!

If there is one thing meditation has going for it, it is the fact that this discipline gives the ordinary person the utmost in relief and comfort.

Let us face it: most of us, if not all, do lead stressful lives.

How often do we wish we could go back in time, to be free from the responsibilities that come with the passing of time?

You can be sure a lot of people would answer this question, “Too often.” This is basically why a lot of people turn to meditation.

Healing meditation, in particular, is one special technique for this discipline. When you are dealing with healing meditation, you are actually promoting peace and quiet in your whole self: in your mind, your body, and your soul, more importantly.

The special technique of healing meditation does have its own fair share of benefits that you can enjoy as well.

But what exactly is healing meditation? And how does it work? The foundation of healing meditation actually goes to so many years ago. In fact, this technique has foundations etched in the ancient doctrines of Buddhism.

Higher consciousness and concentration are some of the main aspects tackled by healing meditation. Once mastered, you can actually attain peace of mind, self awareness, and spiritual development. This special technique is ideally employed by people who are actually experiencing physical or emotional pain.

With such rewarding benefits, it’s actually hard to believe that healing meditation is quite effortless. In fact, you can practice healing meditation all by yourself!

All you have to do is find a flat surface on which you can lay down. A carpeted surface can be good for this position. Take deep breaths and concentrate on each breath that flows in and out of your system.

Flex and relax your facial muscles. When doing this, envision the lines of your face becoming taut and relaxed during the process.

Be sure to visualize this in such a way that you can imagine tension being lifted from your face when your facial muscles relax. When you’re done with your facial muscles, you can then move downward to the other muscles of your body.

From the muscles of your neck, to your shoulders and arms, down to your stomach, and right down to your legs and toes. Just remember that you should concentrate on one particular muscle area at a time.

Healing meditation can actually be done just about anywhere.

You can even go through the whole process in your own room! Just make sure that there would be no external factors that would disturb you in any way. Otherwise, the whole process can be quite frustrating on your part.

In layman’s term, Zen meditation is letting go of pessimistic thoughts and simply relaxing. In Buddhism, it is a contemplative discipline performed to achieve calmness in the mind and body.

Most importantly, it aims for a practitioner to understand the nature of life to obtain enlightenment.

To fully experience positive results of Zen meditation, there are three general methods to consider such as

(1) Concentration;
(2) Koan Introspection; and
(3) Shikantaza.

Concentration is the main emphasis to start Zen meditation. You need to focus on your breathing which is commonly ministered by counting.

Let breathing be your shield to any distraction. On the other hand, Koan Introspection focuses on “koan.” Koan is an entity used for meditation. “Just sitting” or Shikantaza is meditation where an object has no place, instead mere concentration is needed.

Once you have chosen a specific method, then it is time for you to be aware of the common positions undertaken in Zen meditation.

1) Burmese Position

At first glance the said position looks like a simple cross-legged position. With the Burmese position, you need to situate your feet so it will be in front of one another and let both your feet relax on the floor. You need to ensure that your heels are pointed towards your pelvis. Also rested on the floor are your knees.

2) Seiza Position

Seiza is the Japanese term for correct sitting. It can be achieved by letting your lower leg kneel. Make sure that your feet are under your buttocks and that your toes are positioned in a backward manner.

3) Half-Lotus Position

Indian-style with one leg on the top of the other is the half-lotus position. To achieve such sitting position, you need to be seated on an Indian-style of sitting. After which, lift one leg without letting the legs be unfolded.

4) Full-Lotus Position

Make sure that you are seated Indian style. Then, pick one foot and take it to the crook of your knee. Let it rest, ensuring that the base of your knee is in an upward position.

The final step you need to undertake is to bring the other foot to the other knee just like what you did on the first.

After you have chosen a comfortable Zen position for you, there are other important considerations you need to carry out:

- Keep your mouth close. Ensure that your tongue is calmly pushed beside the upper palate to prevent salivation and swallowing.
- Keep your eyes low. Fix your eyes on the ground.
- Keep your chin tucked-in.
- Keep your nose in line with your navel.
- Keep your torso not to lean forward or backward.
- Keep your hands enclosed in a “cosmic mudra.” Your dominant hand should be in an upward palm position to hold the other hand.

Zen meditation concentrates on breathing. Breathe in Zen meditation is said to be the fundamental force in one’s body. Together with mind, the two are considered the reality of life.

With the kind of life people are in right now, Zen meditation may be a helpful act to be relieved from stress and tension.

So why meditate?

As meditation promises, it brings one a sense of deep fulfillment. A person totally committed to it, regardless of the meditation technique, experiences total bliss.

In contrast to other methods which promise the same thing, what we acquire from meditation is not only a fleeting feeling.

While some people needing to clear their minds and their bodies from too much stress find solace in the meditation technique, others turn to some other solutions like drugs. Promising a higher than high feeling to the users, drugs result in an individual’s self-mutilation and destruction.

The sense of exhilaration the users get are not even lasting, but a short-lived one. Any meditation technique is a promise of an adventure to discovering one’s true self. It is natural, healthy, and absolutely free.

There are plenty of techniques that you can do to get better meditation results. Several online sites provide several techniques and their procedures.

One example is the Hong Sau meditation technique. Hong Sau is an easy meditation technique that claims to let you connect with your inner abilities of great vitality, and love, among others. Furthermore this particular meditation technique is said to also let you connect with God.

Hong Sau works when a person gets a grasp on how to control his breathing. It states that the breathing is considered to be the greatest barrier to attaining a deep state of meditation. In practicing the Hong Sau meditation technique, one needs to focus on the breath, and a deep calmness will soon be achieved.

So how should we go about this meditation technique?

One should sit upright, spine straight, but in a comfortable enough position. Focus your view between your eyebrows. Breathe in till the count of eight and hold your breath for eight counts as well without looking away from the point between your eyebrows. Breathe out slowly till the count of eight. Do this process three to six times.

After the breathing exercise, breathe in another time and mentally say “Hong”. Then mentally say Sau (pronounced like saw) while you breathe out. The term Hong Sau means “I am He” or “I am Spirit”. Don’t control your breathing, instead, breathe naturally. You will soon feel that your breathing seems to be making the Hong and Sau sounds.

When you become more relaxed, feel the breathe go higher and higher in the nose. All the while, keep your gaze at the same point between your eyebrows. Keep practicing this meditation technique as long as you want to, until it brings you to a deeper state of serenity and the highest sense of calmness.

How to achieve DEEP meditation…?

Meditation is the primary means of cultivating the inner peace and happiness that we all long for. Inner peace and happiness are found to be resident parts of our inner nature when we are able to take away the barriers in our nervous system from the purifying influences of yoga practices. Inner stillness is the essence of enlightenment, and how do we nurture this in ourselves? - Through deep meditation.

Samyama is a deep meditation practice that takes advantage of resident inner stillness (silence). The practice of Samyama develops in us that sense of “seeing stillness in action and action in stillness.”

In this state, our desires become expressions of our inner silence and find fulfillment in ways we could not have expected.

With samyama, once the meditation time is up, rest follows for about a minute or two and transitions into samyama. The state begins with an easy state of not thinking, just resting in silence.

If thoughts come, they are just let go without entertaining them. In samyama practice, mantra (sound) is not entertained either, not favoring anything but being easy in silence.

The starting point for samyama is silence. The only requirement for doing samyama practice is having some inner silence. Most people achieve this after a few months of daily deep meditation.

Deep meditation however is often mistakenly assumed with having to sit perfectly erect in legs intertwined uncomfortably and washing all thoughts from the minds, or having a complete one-pointed concentration. This is simply not so.

Deep meditation for different people may vary, and each of them may have their own ways and practices of meditating, but whatever way or practice they have chosen, the aim will always be more or less the same, achieving inner peace and happiness.

For some people, deep meditation is simply about “not doing”. They just get themselves deeply relaxed, the body lying down comfortably on the back, listening to beautiful, flowing music and just letting go. They form a perfect state of mind for more traditional meditation, such as prayer or just enjoying the wonderful energy coursing through the body.

Deep meditation practices give us insight into both the fundamental nature of our being. It allows us to experience emotions and thoughts with great clarity and balance. The mind is freed from conditioned patterns of self-centeredness, negativity and confusion, and the heart is opened to deeper wisdom and compassion.

We begin to recognize and know each moment as practice for growth toward wholeness and harmony. We discover a place in ourselves which is already whole and always in harmony, and we learn to live from a clearer center and reach into the inner part of us that results to completeness and happiness.

“Master Yoda. I sense a great disturbance in the force.” said Obi Wan.

Yoda replies, “Indeed there is. Meditate on this, I must.”

The whole activity of meditation is one which has become quite popular over the years. So popular that even the world of pop culture has become fascinated with it.

From Comic Books which feature characters who delve into the activity, to movies like Star Wars showcasing just how valuable meditation is to the formidable Jedi Knights.

There is a reason to this popularity, and it is one which doesn’t exactly leave questions.

1) Just what is this Meditation Business Anyway?

Meditation is basically known as the act of setting one’s mindset into a state of calm, allowing a balanced state of mind, one which is away from the turmoil which possibly affects one’s current state of mind, leading to brash decisions.

Other benefits which could be gained from a meditation practice would be that of a more focused psyche, which simply means lesser distractions which veer people away from their goals.

2) Learning Guided Meditation Techniques

As with most skills which come to be, guided meditation techniques allow those with no meditation capacity backgrounds to learn meditation techniques, giving them the upper hand skills of meditation.

Typically, books stand to be the most popular sources for guided meditation techniques to prevail. One of the most popular of such breed of sources for guided meditation techniques would be Meditation for Starters, written by J. Donald Walters.

In Meditation for Starters, guided meditation techniques would be the key element which defines its popularity, not just among newbie meditation practitioners, but also with those whose meditation skills are quite extended. Meditation for Starters is so popular that even doctors actually “prescribe” it to patients, particularly those who are going through the healing process, regardless of the injuries they are healing form, either physical or mental.

As an award-winning book boasting guided meditation techniques, the realm of inner-calm it shown to readers, giving them the chance to be “in the zone”, at their own pace, at their own time.

Easy to read, easy to comprehend, and easy to apply into one’s daily undertakings, Meditation for Starters is simply one book which lives up to the title it showcases. It comes in Audio CD format as well, even enhancing the guided meditation techniques the book is known to boast.

If “a great disturbance” is what you are going through, you may want to pick up Meditation for Starters. The benefits of inner peace are simply amazing, and such matters of “great disturbances” wouldn’t be as gapping as you first thought them to be.

3) The Logic Behind Meditation Retreats

When you are into the discipline of meditation, you just might want to consider the prospect of going to meditation retreats. Yes, meditation can be done inside the four walls of your very own home.

This gives a sense of convenience that one just cannot deny. However, there are certain times when you would need more than the silence that your home provides, to ensure the success of meditation. And this is where the importance of meditation retreats lies in.

Meditation retreats make great alternatives to group therapy. With meditation retreats, you can actually work with a group that has a common goal.

This way, you would have more people working with you towards the achievement of that common goal. And this makes the whole process more meaningful and rewarding! What’s more, the mere presence of a group of people working towards a common goal is actually inspiring on its own.

Motivation is the key concept here. When there are a lot of people working to achieve something in common, then you yourself cannot help but want to contribute. You would then be prodding yourself to work more and exert more effort, just to ensure that the discipline be done right.

And then there is the fact that man is a social being. Sure, meditation is about creating a sense of oneness with your inner self. But man is a social being, and this is something that cannot be denied. Man does thrive in the presence of people. By going to meditation retreats where a lot of classes are found, you would also feel a sense of purpose for being there and joining this endeavor.

Plus, meditation retreats take place in very, very nice places! Being one with nature is definitely one of the primary aims of meditation retreats. And this is not the only thing offered by the centers!

If you would take the time to look through their programs, you would see the quality of the programs that have been developed for their meditators! Just by taking a look at these programs, you just might want to register your name altogether now!

Some of these programs include three-day meditation retreats and seven-day meditation retreats. The shorter program is aimed at focusing your energies towards your inner self. This focus of energy is directed at the releasing of all emotions, towards self-discovery and contentment at the end of the program.

The seven-day retreat is more intensive. This retreat is all about understanding the self-concept. The program is comprised of steps that are aimed at answering the question: Who am I?

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=

A meditation what? Is my living room sofa not a good enough meditation medium? What difference does the dining chair have with the so-called meditation chair? Will it put me in a trance to speed up relaxation?

Well, a meditation chair does not possess any special powers that can put you under a spell. It may not even differ much, physically, from some of the chairs in your house. A meditation chair can help improve your capability of keeping focused during your meditation session by letting you have a more comfortable position than sitting on the floor. Tough deal, the sofa gives me that too.

Actually, using a meditation chair will give you more benefits than sitting on the floor or using a regular chair. Why? Because during a meditation session, your body should be in harmony with your mind. It demands you to stay focus and uncomfortable position should not interfere with the meditation process.

To achieve our goals in the meditation process, the most important thing is to be most comfortable, so staying focused won’t be a problem. Sitting in a particular position for some time is in a regular chair is bound to result to cramps and can interfere with your meditation process.

Specially designed chair for meditation purposes claim to mold the body unlike regular chairs to prevent cramps and to provide the utmost relaxation.

The ergonomic design of a meditation chair prevents one from slouching during intense moments of meditation through its slightly forward angle, no more so that necessary, to prevent overarching as well. Purchasing a meditation chair should be based according to your height and weight.

A specific kind of meditation chair is the Seagrass Meditation Chair. Its design was brought about by the need to provide those meditating, a more comfortable sitting device.

This particular meditation chair was conceptualized by a meditation practitioner who felt that the lotus position of sitting down does not enhance one’s focus during meditation. This low profile meditation chair enables the legs to rest in a more natural position.

Crossing the feet or ankles on the floor or pulling them up on the chair will still give you a relaxed feeling. Back support is not a problem as well. This sitting device makes the back of the chair provide support too.

Another interesting meditation chair design is the Tilt Seat. Considered as a “kneeling” chair, Tilt Seat however, does not out pressure on the knees and can be alternatively used as a study table because it is angled in a way as not to strain the neck when reading or when seating on a cushion on the floor.

It really doesn’t matter if you’re sitting on a meditation chair or none at all. When meditating, what’s most important is that you are not straining any part of your body needed to focus well.

Meditation bells are useful tools to help clear the mind of its clutter before and after a meditation session.

Have you heard the bells ringing just before Sunday’s church service? Or have you experienced waiting to hear the bell signal the end of the day’s classes?

Meditation bells basically work the same way. It is to signal the start or end of something. Different meditation bells are used to clear the mind from thoughts just before the start of a meditation session.

These meditation bells are also sounded to signal the end of the meditation practice and to let a person out of his reverie.

The website cdbaby.com offers a meditation bell CD. This CD is supposedly going to take the place of the clock, and yet can offer you so much more than time.

If you wish to meditate, relax, or simply rest, for a few minutes to an hour, this CD will be perfect for you. You will be made to know that it is the end of your meditation or relaxation time by the calming tones of a 17th century Himalayan meditation bell. This CD is a tool for a guided meditation itself.

Playing it from the start will take you to the meditation process where the mind is free from any thought into a state of deep serenity. The meditation bells will sound every fifteen minutes which serves as your signal to take stretch or change positions.

You don’t have to look at the clock and time yourself. The meditation bells will make three closing sounds to mean the end of the meditation session.

This meditation bells CD is not only restricted to work for those who are doing meditation practices. This is also perfect for those who are doing yoga, or any kind of exercises. Aside from working as your clock or timer, the meditation bells will put you in the right mood.

The featured meditation bell sounds in this CD were also used in the past to guide the Tibetan monks during their meditation sessions. For a wide array of sounds of the different Tibetan meditation bells, one may visit himalayanbowls.com and sample the unique tones online.

This meditation bells CD was conceptualized for the purpose of providing the meditation practitioners and those who merely want to relax, a more calming atmosphere, free from the hassles of checking the clock every now and then.

Different meditation bells make different tones. Some may sound hollow and far away, while others may sound a bit sharp and near. However, these are all developed and used for the same goals. Providing a better meditation atmosphere and alerting a person in a less abrupt and shrill manner.

Many people know that the Romans are great people who conquered most of the ancient world. They also introduced modern civilization and a lot of useful inventions that modern society is still using today.

Of course, Hollywood movies have depicted the Romans as great warriors and they also depicted their emperors as great conquerors who are responsible for leading their great armies to victory against the barbarians.

However, not many people know that Romans are also great philosophers and one of their emperors named Marcus Aurelius has been depicted as a great emperor who brought many victories to the Roman Empire as well as great philosophical writing.

Not many people know that Marcus Aurelius was not only a great emperor who led the Great Roman Legions against barbaric Germanic tribes and Gaul tribes and won, he is also a devout stoic philosopher who wrote The Meditations.

This particular Philosophical Book has been recognized as one of the greatest works of art. It is still being revered as a literary monument on government service. This philosophical book has been praised as having exquisite accent and infinite tenderness.

The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius contains series of personal writings by the author. It mainly contains Marcus Aurelius’ ideas on Stoic philosophy.

This particular book was written during his campaigns between the years 170 and 180 in Greece. He wrote this for his on personal improvement and served as guidance to his leadership. Up to this day, his memos survived and are still being revered to as an inspirational book that everyone should read.

Translated by George Long into English in 1862, this particular book has been reprinted many times and it is included in Harvard Classics.

Marcus Aurelius Stoic principle inside this book is said to contain denial of emotion. He stated that this is a skill where a man will remain free from the pleasures and pains of the material world. He also stated in this book that the only way a man can be harmed is to allow his reaction to overcome him.

You have to remember that the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius contains no religious faith. Instead it contains benevolent and logical force that explains that bad occurrences happen in the universe for the good of many.

The plainness of the book is overwhelming to most people who read and understood it. The writings of Marcus Aurelius are very different in style. It is said that the contents was not obscured by consciousness of the presence of listeners. Although people fail to understand the Stoic philosophy inside the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, people who do are moved and inspired.

You have to expect that this is an inspiring book and is considered to be one of the greatest works of philosophy. If you want to read this book, you are in luck. Up to this day, this book is still available for reading and for purchase. In fact, this book is so popular that there are many translated versions of it. You can also download the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius in the internet for free.

If you think about meditation, what comes into your mind? Do you imagine sitting down cross legged on the floor, palms up, and eyes closed?

Add some lighted candles in the scene and it would look like a voodoo thing to me. That scene is not entirely untrue of meditation, but it is not necessary either.

Before we conjure up images of ourselves meditating, we have to understand first what it really is and what its benefits are. Meditation is merely conscious relaxation. It is a process which involves the mind to achieve a state of serenity or bliss. This may sound like someone being sedated.

Actually it does. Meditation is a deeper form of concentration. If we are to give a concrete way to illustrate it, let’s use water as the example. If you start pouring water from the pitcher to a glass, the first few drops would be considered “concentration”, however a steady flow is obtained after that which is likened to “meditation”. The unsteady first drops and the small splash they make are considered the distractions in concentration.

A deeper state, which is the steady flow in the example, characterizes meditation. Thus, it clearly frees the mind from any “clutter” and distractions. Stress has always been one of the reasons that people are resorting to meditation.

A lot of unpleasant consequences have resulted in one’s inability to cope up with stress. Some have found solace in taking “calming” medications or pills to temporarily get rid of these thought s and feelings. But unfortunately, these only provide fleeting relief. After the medicines wear off, it is back to the pit again.

Unless you try to overcome these negative thoughts and feelings with your mind, it will always succeed in getting the better of you.

So how do you go about meditation? It is simpler than people thought it to be.

You only find a quiet spot, sit comfortably, relax your emotions and concentrate on an object to meditate on.

It is important to just think of a single object and concentrate on it. Some distractions like other objects will come into focus. Drive your mind away from those. They will only break your concentration. You can still hear the sound around you, but when you’re deep in thought about your object of meditation, even those will not disturb you. Daily meditation is advisable.

If you have a strong commitment and conviction for it, you will achieve a very unique feeling of being able to “leave the moment”. People who have been through this will tell you that it is a feeling of utter bliss where the mind is clear and clean.

Mantra meditation is a very powerful technique. It is a form of meditation that uses sound to open the heart and mind. This is the Meditation Technique of Devotion, a deeply spiritual and sacred practice for a lot of meditators; however a person doesn’t need to be “religious” to experience the gifts that Mantra Meditation can offer.

Mantra meditation allows your mind to focus and concentrate more completely on sound, and clear away other thoughts, emotions and distractions which divert our energies.

We are able to learn and preserve our mental and emotional energies, enabling us to develop a direction and focus in our actions.

We become more aware of the simple aspects of life, transforming our previous attitudes about work towards an uncomplicated and non-competitive life, creating a balance of being physically active and capable with your external actions and maintaining a condition of perpetual meditation internally.

Mantras (sounds) can be whatever you choose; they don’t even need to be Sanskrit Mantras (an ancient language of India used more often in yoga).

A mantra is a sound repeated over and over again until it becomes one into you consciousness and free your mind from its regular doing, elevating you to an altered state of awareness; a state that can connect you with your soul and its most deep level, achieving a state of universal consciousness.

With mantra mediation, one can use whatever sound he likes, such as saying “I am” during inhalation, and “at peace” during exhalation. Mantra is often taught using Sanskrit words or phrases, most common of which are:

OM
The sound of the universe; vibration of all living things

So Ham
This is a beautiful and powerful mantra, honoring both the light and the shadow; the integration of opposites; life and death, light and shadow, inhalation and exhalation; the yin and yang.

Sat Nam
Truth

Om Namah Shivaya
Transformation; creation born of change; the phoenix rising.

Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya
Join with the divine will; I surrender to

Aham Brahmasmi
I am the creative force

Tat Tuan Asmi
I am that I am

Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
Peace, peace, peace

Common Mantras in English:
I am
I surrender to Your will (God, Goddess, Universe, What IS)
Love
Peace to all
I open to What IS
All is well

Preparation for Mantra Meditation

It is always important to prepare yourself before doing mantra meditation. Getting yourself in the right mind set and setting a spiritual atmosphere will help a lot in the practice of mantra meditation.

* Let a sense of spirituality and enthusiasm for your inner quests fill you.

* If possible, shower and dress in clean, white, loose fitting clothing.

* Pull back long hair and brush the teeth if possible. A comfortable and clean body promotes a clear mind as well.

* Sit in the sacred space you have set aside for your spiritual practice.

* Create a simple altar for you space. Inspirational pictures for you can be used, light a candle, or some incense to keep the air sweet and the atmosphere meditative.

* Surrender your egos. It is about purifying yourself and letting go of preconceived thinking, and opening yourself to boundless, unconditional love –Divine Grace.

* Sit in a comfortable position which allows your spine to be straight and erect.

* Offer a prayer from deep within your heart.

How to do Mantra Meditation

If you are doing a Mantra that has one syllable, such as OM, begin by concentrating on the rhythm of your breath. Say to yourself OM as you inhale, then as you exhale count. Inhale OM, exhale one, inhale OM, exhale two, and so on until the number ten, and then start over again.

For longer mantras such as the mantra So Hum, begin with deep, relaxed breathing, calming the mind and the body.

Deeply connect to the rhythm and absorb the rhythm of breath.

On the inhalation, mentally repeat So, and on the exhalation, mentally repeat Hum.

Flow with the silent sound and breath, and allowing the sound to become one with your consciousness, visualizing life force energy moving into your body and down your spine when you inhale, and energy flowing up the spine when you exhale.

Enjoy the practice of this mantra technique without requiring yourself to achieve anything. Enjoy the process and in time your breath and Mantra will become one.
