I know…this is a strange title.
I have known my friend for over a year, almost 2. We are friends, team-mates. We love the same sport. And enjoy sporting activities. The only difference is, training is all her life, is all that she cares about and wants to talk about. That is basically it. Training, training, and more training.
Why is why she is one of the top athletes in the team, the pride of any coaches who has the chance to coach her and train her.
Training is not all my life. It is part of the process of my personal development in life. From a young age I had already stood out from all my siblings in the family. They are bright, intelligent, hardworking and are all top scholars in their schools. I’m the odd one out. Slower, having a slightly different perspective to life, and most prominently taking an intense interest in all subjects that are out of the norms …or mystical and metaphysical.
And because I have this natural inclination to studying and researching all things that are mystical and metaphysical, I was already reading up on all kinds of books that are related to these 2 areas. Having an open mind is my asset, and being able to read both english and chinese materials gives me the advantage to have the chance to improve my knowledge. Taosim, Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Yoga, Meditation, Qi-gong, Kundalini, Tibetan teachings, Astral projections, mind reading, channeling …you name it, i could have read about it.
I have read strange stories about people having mystical experiences (I don’t feel they are strange anyway), and most of the time I have read about them in my books. I met some of these types of people in my life, like my teachers, my si-fus whom I have studies with, my friends who are like minded as me and whom I have gotten to know in the retreats I have attended.
And it never dawn on me that I have a team-mate who is experiencing all the seemingly strange, funny and weird stuffs I have read in my books, and who never knew her own potentials and her own destiny. I told her, that she is someone who really jumps out from all my books. I always believe that we all have a higher self, an old soul who knows everything about mankind and the secrets of the universe; and I always trust my higher self, listening to its voice within me, and trusting that it will guide my path in life. I tell my friend, that knowing her in this life is not accidental. And she knows it. Her life changed, from the day I first taught her a very simple meditation technique.
